Getting towed in a semi-truck can be hazardous if not done correctly.
Follow these important steps:
Before the Tow
- Park on a safe, level surface whenever possible
- Set parking brakes
- Turn on hazard lights
- Remember your safety vest
- Place warning triangles within 10 minutes
- Pack personal items and secure loose objects inside the cab
During Hookup
- Stay inside the cab of the truck
- Do not release the brakes until instructed by the tow truck operator
- Follow all instructions from the tow operator – one person gives directions
- Once asked to exit the cab, remember to use 3 points of contact when getting out of the truck
- Don’t forget your triangles
