We all know it’s coming … snow and ice! This week we wanted to share some tips and facts about prepping our equipment, and ourselves.
Winter equipment prep: Windshield wipers and fluid
• Replacing any wiper blade that leaves streaks or misses spots – and carrying an extra set
• Filling the windshield washer fluid reservoir with a winter cleaning solution that contains antifreeze components.
• Ensuring wipers are free of ice and snow and turned off before starting the engine.
Winter equipment prep: Heating and cooling
• Making sure a vehicle’s cooling system contains enough antifreeze to prevent freezing in cold weather.
• Checking the entire system for leaks.

Winter equipment prep: Lights and visibility
- During winter, working lights become more critical for others to see you.
- Make sure all lights and lenses are clean and functioning properly.

Winter prep: Frozen dollies and equipment
- To ensure a proper connection, fifth wheel plates should be snow- and/or ice-free before coupling.

If a dolly is frozen, please bring it to the attention of a FedEx Ground manager and use a dolly that isn’t frozen.

Be vigilant, be kind and please check your tire pressure!
