According to Safercar.gov, rollovers are dangerous incidents that have a higher fatality rate than other types of crashes.
The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration provides the following information to help avoid rollovers:
- Maintaining curve advisory speeds may not be slow enough to prevent rollover of commercial vehicles
- Entering curves too fast may not allow enough time to slow down before rolling over
- A commercial vehicle’s right or left side wheels may drop or sink down into a shoulder and increase the chance of rollover
- During a tractor-trailer rollover, the trailer usually begins to roll before the tractor
